Thermal Hire Ltd. was formed in 1974 and entered the field of thermal heating in a modest way. At first the Company specialised in the manufacture and hire of gas and oil fired combustion equipment. This provided experience in manufacturing techniques and management control systems as well as gaining a foothold in the thermal and metal heat treatment industries.
Following these early years in our growth, there was expansion into several markets, all of which offered services in thermal technology. Two of these activities involved on-site heating services; gas-fired metal heat treatment and refractory dry out operations.
Whilst expanding operations and capabilities at customers sites, strides were also being taken at the company's Hartlepool and Wigan facilities. The construction and acquisition of more than 25 furnaces enabled us to offer in house heat treatment services to wide range of companies throughout the UK.
Throughout the last 30 years, there has been progressive expansion into heat treatment by the use of electrical resistance and induction techniques providing an important addition to our heat treatment portfolio.
With over forty years of practical experience in heat treatment, Thermal Hire Ltd has earned a reputation for reliability and commitment, and the ideals of quality and service are paramount in providing our wide range of services to all sectors of industry from nuclear, petrochemical and pipelines, to off-shore platforms.
The number of completed projects now exceeds 5000, carried out in the UK and locations extending from Iceland to Australia and Mexico, both on and off-shore, managed from our Wigan and Falkirk Operations departments.

Equipment the company also holds formal approval to AS 9100 Rev D.
